Accomplishments

International Experience, Project Management & Execution:

  • Played a key role as planning executive ,spearheaded planning and execution for First commercial production (FCP) at Garraf oil field (Iraq) Dhi-Qar Governorate in Sep 2013, a major joint venture with PETRONAS, JAPEX & NOC, establishing production capacity of 35,000 bopd. ensuring safe, reliable start up for a key national asset, meeting contractual obligations and paving the way for future plateau production (230,000 bopd). Key obligations included drilling wells, constructing facilities, and meeting specific average production rates 35,000 bopd for 90 days for first commercial production.

Situation:

A major 180-day Mechanical Completion date was falling behind which substantially delays cascaded to the Ready for Commissioning (RFC) and First Commercial Production (FCP) milestones due to the security situation in Iraq, which cause the following:

  • Unforeseen blockers (equipment delay, contractor deployment and logistics), the project were exposed to high-level risks that threatened to cause significant budget & schedule overruns, resource bottlenecks.
  • Increased frequency of accidents/ incidents on a construction site highlighted a gap between scheduling and HSE.
  • The team was experiencing inconsistent and slow planning processes performance.

Task:

  • Re-baseline the Master Schedule to align with contractual target dates, incorporating risk management to ensure future feasibility.
  • Audit and standardize project workflows to Identify and fix resource bottlenecks to align with budget constraints, streamline processes, increase efficiency, and ensure task-level accuracy.
  • Analyze accidents/incidents root causes, and strategic integration of safety milestones into the master schedule to eliminates them.

Action:

  • Led a cross-functional team of 7 disciplines , facilitated daily ,weekly and monthly progress meetings reviewed 6 concurrent projects, analyzed variance, identify critical path disruptions and set a new baseline using MS Project.
  • Implemented a comprehensive risk management plan for the new baseline by conducting weekly risk reviews, created a risk register, identified 5 risks and assigning mitigation owners for threats.
  • Engaged 3 Stakeholders and negotiate with them to set a realistic, achievable baseline.
  • Renegotiated 7 vendors on delivery dates and re-allocating resources on the critical path.
  • Utilized scheduling tools MS Project to update the Integrated Master Schedule (IMS).
  • Combined the strategic oversight of a Master Schedule with the operational efficiency of detailed workflows by linking granular workflows into the larger schedule framework.
  • Implemented Safety Look ahead (3-week), re-sequenced SIMOPS, analyzed data, reduced site congestion.
  • Conducted comprehensive hazard assessments (JHAs) and risk assessments before and during tasks.
  • Developed training programs to inform employees on safety policies, hazard recognition and emergency response, increasing worker participation in daily safety toolbox talks
  • Conducted weekly site audits, inspections, and safety walkthrough to ensure compliance
  • Implemented behavior-based safety (BBS) initiatives and track leading indicators (near-miss reporting).

Result:

  • By implementing the re-baseline, we successfully reduced the project's timeline gap by 60% without compromising on critical quality standards compared to the previous unachievable baseline and the First commercial production (FCP) successfully were achieved 35000 bopd for 90 days .
  • Stakeholder trust were restored, provided a clear path forward, and allowed us to complete the project with a fully agreed-upon, realistic schedule.
  • The project were completed with zero lost-time incidents over 0.81+ man hours while maintaining compliance with safety regulations

Project Leadership and Cost Optimization:

  • Directed the assessment and coordination of integrated Operating Room (IOR) and Production Data Management System (PDMS) projects for the Garraf Oil Field, Iraq in 2014, optimizing processes to achieve a 10% project cost reduction.

Techno-Commercial Acumen

  • Spearheaded task forces to negotiate and develop complex techno commercial agreements, including crude oil transportation, quality banking, and production curtailment compensation agreements, securing favorable terms for stakeholders (PETRONAS & JAPEX),Garraf Oil Project,Iraq, August 2016.
